    Industrial Visit to “Saras Dairy (Jaipur Dairy)”

    The Department of Commerce and Management organized an industrial visit to Saras Dairy (Jaipur Dairy) for BBA & B.Com Part-II students on 25th April 2025, which proved to be a highly educational and insightful experience.

    The visit was coordinated and accompanied by esteemed faculty members Dr. Reena Jain and Dr. Yog Kanwar Rathore. At Saras Dairy, the students were warmly welcomed and guided throughout the tour by Mr. Arjun Singh, an experienced attendant at the dairy plant.

    Objective of the Industrial Visit:

    The primary objective of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practices in the dairy industry. The students got first-hand exposure to:

    • The milk procurement, processing, and packaging processes
    • The quality control measures maintained at the plant
    • The product line of Saras Dairy including milk, butter, ghee, paneer, and more
    • The role of cooperative societies in managing large-scale dairy operations
    • The technology used in milk pasteurization, homogenization, and storage

    This visit aimed at enhancing the understanding of industrial processes and instilling practical insights into the supply chain and management systems of the dairy industry. 

    Industrial Visit Highlights:

    1. Introduction Session:

    The visit began with an introductory session by Mr. Arjun Singh, who explained the history, vision, and functioning of Saras Dairy, which operates under the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF). He elaborated on the organization’s mission to provide quality dairy products across Rajasthan while supporting rural milk producers.

    2. Milk Processing & Packaging Tour:

    Students were guided through different stages of the milk supply chain:

    • Milk Collection Unit – Where raw milk is received from farmers and checked for quality
    • Processing Unit – Where milk undergoes pasteurization, standardization, and homogenization
    • Packaging Unit – Where milk and other products are hygienically packed using modern machinery

    3. Quality Control Lab Visit:

    The students visited the quality control laboratory, where they were introduced to the safety standards, microbiological testing, and nutritional testing procedures that ensure product safety.

    4. Product Display Section:

    A variety of Saras products like flavored milk, shrikhand, ice cream, paneer, and ghee were displayed. Students learned about diversification and branding strategies used to cater to different market segments.

    5. Sustainability Practices:

    The guide also shared information about Saras Dairy’s eco-friendly waste management, energy-efficient practices, and cold chain logistics for product delivery.

    At the end of the visit, a question-and-answer session was held where students asked various queries related to milk preservation techniques, cooperative model management, supply chain challenges, and future opportunities in the dairy sector.

    • Dr. Reena Jain: Her initiative and leadership ensured that the visit was organized seamlessly, with meaningful learning outcomes.

    The industrial visit to Saras Dairy (Jaipur Dairy) proved to be a fruitful and enlightening experience for the students. It not only provided them with insights into dairy plant operations but also highlighted the significance of quality assurance, cooperative management, and product diversification in a real-world setting. The students appreciated the opportunity to witness theoretical concepts in practice and left with valuable knowledge that will benefit their academic and professional journey.
