Experiential learning has become a potent educational strategy in a time when education is supposed to develop both professional competence and emotional intelligence. When texts are examined beyond traditional reading and analysis techniques, literature courses in particular provide enormous potential for transformational transformation.
The English Department of Poddar Group of Institutes has implemented an experiential learning strategy using Rabindranath Tagore's well-known drama, The Post Office. Instead of viewing literature as a static text, this effort enables students to interact with it as a lived experience. Themes like optimism, independence, communication, and the human need for connection are all explored in The Post Office.
Students enter the play's intellectual and emotional realm through role-playing, scene enactments, and introspective conversations. They gain empathy and interpretative depth while internalising the text's meaning thanks to this intense involvement.
Students become active participants instead of passive readers through experiential learning. Through group role-playing and character motivation analysis, students improve their communication skills and get an appreciation for different viewpoints. These methods strongly correspond with contemporary educational trends that prioritise critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity.
The intellectual overtones of the play also promote emotional consciousness. Students enhance emotional intelligence and resilience abilities, which are increasingly valued in both personal and professional situations, by connecting the story to real-world events.
Poddar Group of Institutes shows how humanities education may continue to be extremely relevant in modern educational systems by combining classical literature with practical teaching. This method produces well-rounded people who are ready for both significant social participation and professions.
