On 7/7/2023, Poddar Business School organized a seminar on the topic "Frugal Digital Innovation: Turning Adversity into Opportunity" delivered by Assistant Professor Suchit Ahuja, Concordia University, Canada.
The program started with the Student Organization welcoming the visitor by applying tilak. After that, He was greeted by the Director of PGDM - Dr. Devendra Arora by giving a flower pot to Devendra Aroa Sir.
Mr. Suchit shed light on several topics such as:
Innovation has become ubiquitous, but the true measure of success lies in creating solutions that are accessible, affordable, and impactful for society by addressing challenges creatively. Throughout the session, he gave numerous inspiring examples.
Frugality, as a concept, has a rich historical and cultural heritage. It involves the prudent and efficient use of resources, emphasizing careful management across financial, material, and other domains. It is a timeless principle that encourages economy and waste reduction.
During the session, Mr. Ahuja also clarified the distinction between digitization and digitalization. While digitization refers to the conversion from analog or paper-based systems to digital formats, digitalization entails transforming information into a digital framework.
Mr.Ahuja explained the corporate manifestation of frugality 3.0, exemplified by companies like Walmart and Amazon. Walmart impresses with its commitment to offering low prices and affordability, while Amazon has ingeniously converted physical experiences into digital ones. We also witnessed remarkable initiatives such as Karma Healthcare, which leverages Android devices as sensory-based tools to transmit patient information to doctors locally and globally.
He also unfolded the various concepts, including SMAC (Social Media, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud Computing), the 6-platform development process, and many other innovative advancements.
The landscape of products and services is rapidly evolving alongside technology. To thrive in this dynamic environment, we must focus on pricing strategies, globalization, miniaturization, and digital aspects that simplify delivery mechanisms. By addressing social causes while generating profits, we can establish a sustainable presence in the market.
Some words were said by Sunil Kakkar, HOD of PGDM in the welcome of Mr. Suchit Ahuja. The management students attended the seminar with great enthusiasm and asked interesting questions from Mr. Ahuja. Dr. Devendra Arora congratulated faculties and the student organizers for successfully organizing the event. In the last, a memento was also presented to the spokesperson.
